We understand that the passing of an employee is a difficult time. Here's what you need to do when an employee passes away.
How to handle an employee's death in Bob
- In Bob, navigate to Org > People.
- From the Directory tab, mark the checkbox to the left of the employee(s) from whom you'd like to terminate.
- From the Actions dropdown menu, select Change status > Terminate employee > Termination or your custom termination flow.
- In the Termination reason dropdown menu, select Passed away.
- Complete the termination flow. To learn more, see How to terminate an employee.
- Bob will sync this information to UK Payroll, marking the Death in service box in the employee's profile.
- Then, in UK Payroll, update their bank details so their final payments are made to the correct bank account. This may be to their personal representative or executor of their estate. Navigate to Employees > relevant employee, change these details, and click Save changes.
- Update their National Insurance category to Category X, to ensure that no National Insurance is deducted. Navigate to Employees > relevant employee, update the NI category from the National Insurance category dropdown, and click Save changes.
