How to use Payrolls
- From the left menu, click Payrolls.
- Select the relevant payroll. Here, you can view all of the employees included in this payroll cycle.
- To view an employee's payslip, click on the employee's name. Here, you can view their individual payment Summary and your Employer contributions. You can also Add one-off pay items and Send payslips to employees.
- To exclude an employee from a payroll cycle, switch the toggle in their payslip off.

From the Actions menu, you can change the pay date, import payroll information, send and download payslips, view and download reports, and download a draft FPS submission.
Note: UK Payroll will automatically file your FPS with HMRC. However, you can download a draft version to ensure the values within your FPS are correct.
- To view the payroll summary, click Summary in the top bar. Here, you can view the Payments timeline, and an itemized payments Summary. The summary page also highlights the amount to transfer, Pension payment, and the number of employees in the payroll cycle.
- If your FPS submission is rejected by HMRC, the FPS submission section will display a Rejected notification, and a banner will appear with the option to Resend FPS. If your FPS submission is accepted by HMRC, the FPS submission section will display an Accepted notification.
- Click Confirm payroll to run your payroll. To learn more, see Confirm payroll with two-factor authentication and Run payroll.
How to view the Payroll summary
The Payroll summary displays an itemized overview of your payroll, the payments timeline, and the confirmation date.
- From the left menu, click Payrolls.
- Select the relevant payroll. Here, you can view all of the employees included in this payroll cycle.
- To view the payroll summary, click Summary in the top bar.

View the pay dates and amounts for Net pay, Pension, and PAYE & NIC payments under Payments timeline.
Note: The PAYE & NIC amount is the sum of the PAYE income tax, Student loan, Postgraduate loan, Employees NIC, Employer NIC, and Employer Class 1A NIC amounts found in the Summary section.

View an itemized list of payment amounts under Summary, including Base pay, Net pay, Gross additions, Gross deductions, PAYE income tax, Student loan, Postgraduate loan, and Attachments of earnings. You can also view any NIC and pension payment amounts.
Note: The Net pay amount in the Payments timeline and the Summary sections may be different if an employee is excluded from automatic payments or if they have holding bank details in their profile. If they have holding bank details in their profile, this will be flagged on the Overview page).
- View an itemized list of recovered amounts under Recovered payments, including any statutory payments such as parental pay and leave.
- At the bottom of the summary, you can see the Total payroll cost.

On the right, you can see the confirmation date under Confirm by, the amount to transfer under To transfer, and the pension contribution payments under Pension.
Tip: Your current account balance is also listed. If you need to transfer money, click View account details to access the account details to make the transfer.
- The FPS submission status (Draft or Submitted) is listed next to FPS Submission.
- Check the number of Employees included in the payroll.
